You're viewing a signed limited edition of Stephen King's The Stand, published by Doubleday in 1990. The book is # 673 of 1250. It's referred to as the complete and uncut edition. It's bound in full leather with gilt edges, red silk end papers, bound in ribbon page marker and enclosed in a red satin lined wooden box.The book is signed by author Stephen King and illustrator Bernie Wrightson. It's loosely called the coffin edition due to its black-wooden - satin lined case, made of soft & lightweight wood. The box has a matching wooden lid with an engraved brass plate.
This valuable book - inside it's wooden box, will be well packed in 3-boxes. More bubble wrap will be added, and the 1st box will be placed in a cardboard box. The same process will occur with the 3rd box. The size of the outside box is 20"x16"x12. It has never been read or thumbed through.
I've unboxed the top of the box about three times over the years, to show the signature page to friends. I found no condition issues with the book. The black ribbon in the coffin box is as pristine as the day it was boxed. As is the red ribbon [the page marker] that is in the book (see both photos). The wooden coffin box does have some condition issues: There are a tiny indentations from 1/16" to 1/8" on the outside of the box. They are very small and two of the three indentations are visible in the main photo - about 2 above my gloved finger. They are the tiny white color wood specs that you see in the photo. Also, two corners of the inside of the coffin box are small missing pieces of wood (see the two photos of my finger pointing to these areas). The glassine paper (wax paper) that wraps around the book is intact. The glassine paper is not part of the book, but rather a wrapper provided by the book's publisher. It has yellowed, mostly noticeable on the upper area toward the top of the book in the box.
The glassine paper also has frayed areas with tears (see photo of my finger pointing to some of these areas). You must sign for the package. States and related territories and it's possessions only.
