1938 A Countryman's Creed E C Keith Archibald Thorburn Signed Limited Edition

Beautifully illustrated with full colour plates, this is a signed Limited Edition copy of E. Keith's celebration of sports and the countryside. Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper. This book weighs 2 KG when packed. The first edition of this signed Limited Edition study of country life and shooting, in the scarce publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

This copy is number 205 of 250 copies signed by author Edward Charles Keith. Illustrated with nine vibrant full colour plates, and a further twelve tipped in plates from Archibald Thorburn, a Scottish artist who specialised in wildlife watercolours.

A continuation of the work started by Keith in his popular 1937 work'Gun for Company', in this work Keith, a Norfolk landowner and farmer,'embraces the sport of the countryside, but writes chiefly of the whole life of the countrymen in which sports must take its place within agriculture, and in which both can and should support communion with nature'. A lovely copy of this brightly illustrated work. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Minor shelf wear to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally bright. Discolouration to dust wrapper back strip, with light chipping to back strip head and tail. Significant spotting to front wrap, with marks to rear wrap.

Significant spotting to dust wrapper reverse, with clear tape reinforcement to reverse of back strip head. Overall Condition: Near Fine Very Good. Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones.

Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair. As with good only above but with other faults.

Leaving a compromised copy even after repair. Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete. We only sell books in this condition where their rarity or value makes them.

Major defects will be described. Please ask for details and conditions. Please note we cannot accept USD cheques. This item is in the category "Books & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectible". The seller is "the-mad-librarian" and is located in this country: GB.
