Hardback, full leather binding by Zaehnsdorf of London, in a special limited edition fine binding of 25 (this being No 14). The book is bound in full green leather with leaf design across the front and rear boards, the spine with leaf-shaped title labels. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers and gilt margin to pastedowns. Housed in a green cloth covered slipcase. 26.5 x 18cm, xxi [ii], 180pp.
He designed and built his ideal family house at Cuckoo Hill in the New Forest and lived there from 1904. Six years later he published The Book of Gorley, a journal of his new rural way of life. This is the 1987 reissue, it is illustrated throughout with his distinctive line drawings, maps and watercolour paintings. The book is in very good condition, with a very faint crease to the first few pages. The binding is in excellent condition, the pages are clean.The slipcase is lightly rubbed but otherwise in very good order. The image shown is the book you will receive, we do not use stock images.
