Italian Impressionist Artist Antonio Saliola Signed Double Color Engravings
For sale is an original double framed colored engraving print set by the Italian impressionist artist Antonio Saliola. This piece is a gallery framed limited edition with both prints being only 100 prints in the edition and these being 1/100 & 2/100 in the limited editions. Each print is pencil signed by the artist in the lower right and titled and numbered on the left and middle margins.
One print features an impressionist coastal view with a woman in a white flowing dress gazing out at the sail boats on the bay on a sun drenched summer day. The other features a scene of another woman with a nice beautiful flowing dress and summer hat sitting in the grass with her dog by her side, gazing off into the landscape as a gentleman walks along the path to meet her. The prints use gorgeous colors of various greens yellows blues and whites. Frame - 22" x 14". Sight - 9 1/2 x 8.
Impression - 8 1/2" x 7 1/2". Born in Bologna, he spent the first years in the country, then evacuated with his family because of the war. After elementary school back with the family in town where it begins a troubled school career, torn between hostility for some materials and the propensity for art, painting, books, movies. After completing his classical studies he graduated in law in 1967. He wins a contest and becomes official Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and at the same time opens the Art Gallery "Time" which organizes exhibitions figurative until 1974, when it goes out of business.He resigned from the Academy and finally devotes only to painting. Antonio retains the old love for the book and film, and this helps us to understand how he became a painter-narrator who tells himself in a variety of cycles: from family portraits (1970'73), courtyards and taverns and the school and the college (1973-'74) the "child who wanted to fly" (1974), the West 1976, the ideal visits adored Claude Monet (1987-'88), the great Italian gardens (1987-'89). For some'of years makes a pictorial journey marked by half in the gardens and country homes where they play only children and pets, their favorite actors for a perfect representation of the time of childhood.
