


Limited to 1,000 copies. The family moved up to Glasgow where Madeleine attended the Airdrie Academy, Lanarkshire.
In 1931 Madeleine moved to London to study art at the Kingston School of Art where Reginald Brill was principal. In 1932 she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, there she won the painting prize in 1934. She painted in oils and watercolours under William Rothenstein and Gilbert Spencer.Leaving the RCA she became a professional artist and also worked making advertisements. She exhibited at the Royal Academy 1951, 1958, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1972.
She died in 8th November 1976 at St. John's Coach House, St. John's Street, Lechlade, Gloucestershire.Vol 1 November 1935 and Vol 15 of the'new series' dated 1952 with original glassine covers. Loosely cased in ribbon tied paper covered boards with green cloth spine. Contains compliments slip from editor, inscription page to Madeleine Andersen from Oliver Simon (contributing artist), compliment slip from Madeleine Andersen herself and her address on a small piece of card. Size: 25 cm by 18.5 cm.
Light wear to corners and edges of ribbon tied case. 1935 Vol 1 - Wear to glassine cover with tears and loss to lower spine end. Minor spotting to a few margin areas. Tear to lower spine end with cover peeled back from text block. Text block intact, but becoming fragile. 1952 Vol 15 - Very good.
