Moskowitz achieved success at an early age, and the characters in his works have universal appeal. Born in 1941 in the bustling New York City, Moskowitz's first influence came from his father, a wood sculptor, who decorated his home with figurines depicting elephants, tigers, and birds.

Moskowitz obtained his education at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League of New York City. He went on to receive his Master's of Fine Arts Degree from the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, California. In his Master's thesis, entitled "Animals in a Children's World, " Mr. Moskowitz explained that the purpose of his art was to approach his subjects with the simplicity, naivete, and curiosity of a child, coupled with the knowledge of an adult. Not content to have his work displayed only as museum pieces, Mr.

Moskowitz wanted to reach out and touch the masses with his artwork. As a result he began printing his paintings as posters. His first works, printed in the early 1970's, "American Rabbit" and "The Corporation, " were a huge success and these posters became known around the world.
